First you are going to add the hot water into a bowl. You want the water to be warm but not too hot. If the water is too hot it will kill the yeast. Add the yeast and sugar into the water. Give this mixture and give a good stir. Let this sit the counter for ten minutes to let the yeast activate.
Once the yeast is frothy, you can add the olive oil and salt.
For the flour you can use a dough hook on your stand mixer or you can use your hands. I like to add the flour 1/2 cup at a time. When I don’t use the dough hook I do end up having to knead it for a couple minutes to get the dough to be smooth.
Once all the flour is incorporated, you are going to place the dough in a oiled bowl. Cover the bowl with a cloth and let rise for one hour.
After the dough rises I cut mine in half to give me to dough balls. You can use the dough now or place in the fridge in a covered oiled container.
